Most Puissant Grand Master 2013 - 2014

John BairdWalter Herbert John Baird known as John was born on July 17, 1947 and is the only child of Austin and Elsie Baird. John is the father of two adult daughters and is a very proud poppy to his 2 year old twin granddaughters, Leah and Lauren. John also has two step children with his Lady Friend Brenda Brophy.

John completed his early education in the Community of Terra Nova and Town of Clarenville. He completed his Grade Eleven in St. John’s and graduated from the College of the North Atlantic in 1968 with a diploma in Business Administration. While employed at the Royal Trust Company from 1968-1974 he completed the Trust Officers Program and received his designation from the Trust Institute of Canada. In 1974 John accepted a position of Estates and Trust Administrator with the Estates Office, of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador. In June 2011, the Estates Office became the Office of the Public Trustee for the Province and John became the First Public Trustee for the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

John is a member of the Church of the Good Sheppard.

In his spare time John can be found at his Cabin where he spends countless hours at his prized hobbies, salmon fishing in the summer and Skidoo-ing in the winter, or as of late babysitting his twin granddaughters.

Masonic History

Craft Masonry

John was installed in Avalon Lodge No. 2 (776 E.C) on May 27, 1982. He was elected and installed as Worshipful Master in 1989 and at present is serving as immediate Past Master. He is Past President of the Avalon Lodge Past Masters Association. Founding member of Farmham Lodge of Research No. 33 and services as Worshipful Master for 2 years 2010-2012. Founding member of Terra Nova Lodge No. 35. He was also a former member of Lodge Conception and Union Lodge. He has serviced on the Board of General purposes of the Grand Lodge of Newfoundland and Labrador as was elected and served as Grand Senior Warden for two terms.

Capitular Masonry

Exalted in Shannon Chapter No. 1in 1984, elected High Priest in 1990. He received the Holy Order of High Priest Hood in 1991, appointed as Grand Representative to Louisiana in 1999, installed as Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Newfoundland and Labrador 2005-2006, made Honorary Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Nova Scotia in 2006; served as President of the Holy Order of High Priest Hood in 2006- 2008.

Cryptic Rite Masonry

Greeted in Eastern Council No. G Royal & Select Master in 1987, elected Thrice Illustrious Master in 1991, received an order of silver trowel in 1991, service again as TIM 2008 and 2009 appointed Grand representative to Kentucky for 1993- 1996. He was appointed Grand Stewart in 1994. Elected and installed as Most Puissant Grand Master on May 3, 2013.

Chivalric Orders

Created a Knight in Beothic Preceptory No.71 in 1985, elected and installed Presiding Preceptor in 1989, served against as Presiding Preceptor 2007 and served as Provincial Grand Prior 2010-2012.

Red Cross of Constantine

He was admitted to J Charles Moores Conclave No. 21 in 1993, served as Most Puissant Sovereign in 2006.

Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priest

He joined Beaumont Hamel Tabernacle No 219 in 2003 served as High Priest 2008- 2009, 2010-2011, 2011-2012, 2012-2013 conferred the rank of Past Grand II Pillar by Grand College 2013.
